My Favorite Bible Verses on Anxiety

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil 4:13)

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10)

Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:6-9)

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22)

Hear my cry, O Lord, attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me and a strong tower from the enemy (lean on Him). I will abide in thy tabernacle forever. I will trust in the cover of thy wings. (Psalm 61:1-4) Stay in church. Trust.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) If you feel a problem is ruining your life, just KNOW, God WILL work it out for good. He promises He will. There is a purpose to your problem. Your job is to love Him and trust Him. If you caused the problem, that’s OK. Jesus is our redeemer, and he will redeem your mistake.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Sometimes you must PUT your trust in God. It doesn’t come easily. Turn off your brain and turn on your faith.

Casting (throw, fling, get rid of) all your care (fears, anxiety, and worry) upon Him, for He cares for you. I Peter 5:7

Psalm 94:18, in two different versions. Both show different insights. When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. (NIV) When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul. (KJV) One version said “anxiety;” the other called it “the multitude of my thoughts.” Sometimes anxiety is too much thinking. Let God support you, hold you up. Let His consolation and comfort bring you joy and delight your soul.

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1) Make Him your stronghold. It helps. Trust me.“Sorrow is better than laughter, for by the sadness of the countenance, the heart is made better.” (Ecc. 7:3) Our sorrow can be a gift to make us better and bring us closer to Him.
